The launch of the Minox 8x42 BL and 10x42 BL binoculars in 2005 saw long-awaited additions to the ever-growing range of Minox optics. These exciting and well-priced binoculars combine the high quality of Minox optics with a brand new lightweight rubber-armoured body. January 2006 saw the newest model introduced to the range - the 8x32 BL.
Weighing in at just 525g, the 8x32 BL are approximately 80g lighter than the 605g 8x42 or 10x42 BL. They all feature a new design of rubber armouring which provides better grip in all weather conditions. The central focus wheel is also fully rubber armoured to ensure ease of use and grip, even with gloves on. They are fully waterproof to a depth of 5m and Nitrogen purged to prevent internal fogging during quick temperature changes.
The fully multicoated optics and phase-corrected prisms give the user excellent image clarity and brightness even in our sometimes rather dreary weather conditions. The new Minox 8x32 BLs focus down to less than 1.5m with the 8x42 BL and 10x42 BL focussing to less than 2 meters and on all 3 models just 1¼ turns of the focussing wheel gets you from close to infinity.
While making use of a lightweight polycarbonate body, which itself undergoes the same rigorous durability testing procedures of the top-end BR binoculars, the BLs still retain the all-metal eyepiece assemblies of the BRs which ensure that the twist-up eyecups stay in place at all times but can be quickly and easily adjusted so anyone wearing spectacles still has a full field of view.
The new Minox BLs come complete with soft leather pouch case, strap, rainguard, objective lens covers and lens cloth and are available now.
